Madera, CA – 25-Year-Old Man Killed, Another Injured in Two-Vehicle Crash at Road 19 and Avenue 18½

Madera County, CA – A 25-year-old Madera man was killed and a 40-year-old Chowchilla driver was injured in a two-vehicle crash at an intersection in Madera on Wednesday evening, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The collision occurred at approximately 6:30 p.m. at the intersection of Avenue 18½ and Road 19.

Investigators said a 2000 Toyota Tacoma, driven by the Madera man, was northbound on Road 19 when it failed to stop at a posted stop sign and entered the intersection. The Tacoma crossed into the path of a westbound 2022 Hyundai Tucson driven by the Chowchilla man, and the two vehicles collided.

Both vehicles rolled over after the crash and came to rest in an orchard northwest of the intersection.

CHP said the Toyota driver was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected from the pickup. Despite lifesaving efforts, he was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Hyundai driver, who was wearing a seat belt, sustained moderate injuries and was transported to a local hospital for treatment.

The crash remains under investigation by the California Highway Patrol.
