Los Gatos, CA. – A 90-year-old man was hospitalized Thursday night after driving his vehicle into the Los Gatos Coffee Roasting Company near Main Street and University Avenue, according to the Los Gatos–Monte Sereno Police Department.
Officers and firefighters responded around 9 p.m. and found a black Volvo that had crashed through the front of the business. Fire crews extricated the elderly driver, who was transported to the hospital in serious but stable condition.
Surveillance footage captured the Volvo speeding down University Avenue without braking before slamming into the building. Police photos show the sedan fully inside the shop, causing what owners described as “devastating damage.”
As per a local news source, the co-owner Dylan Phillips said the café side of the business was destroyed, including their coffee roaster, plumbing, and inventory. The collision also caused water leaks into the basement.
The crash remains under investigation.
