Los Banos, CA – A 34-year-old man was killed in a crash between two vehicles near an intersection in Los Banos on Saturday morning.

According to the Los Banos Police Department, the wreck took place just before 8:11 a.m. April 25, in the area of Santa Barbara Drive and Linwood Court.

Preliminary investigations revealed that a sedan was traveling down Santa Barbara Drive when it crashed head-on with a car that was making a turn at the intersection of Linwood Court. The sedan was allegedly traveling at a high rate of speed when the incident happened.

First responders arrived at the scene within minutes and attempted life-saving measures on the driver who was msking the turn.

Despite efforts by the medics, the driver succumbed to his injuries at the scene. He has since been identified as Michael Qualls, 34. Qualls’ family has launched a GoFundMe account to help with the funeral expenses.

Impairment was not suspected to have played any role in the incident and authorities are working to establish the exact circumstances of the collision.

More details on the accident were not immediately released. The Los Banos Police Department is handling an ongoing investigation into the incident.
