The deadly incident happened shortly after 12:40 a.m. near Gage Avenue and Normandie Avenue

Los Angeles, CA – A woman was killed early Monday morning in a multi-vehicle crash in Los Angeles’ Harvard Heights area.
According to the Los Angeles Police Department, the chain of events began at approximately 12:40 a.m. when a vehicle was involved in a rear-end collision near West Gage Avenue and Vermont Avenue. Authorities said the driver left the scene and continued westbound on Gage Avenue.
A short time later, the vehicle collided with three other vehicles, including a white car, operated by a 49-year-old woman near Gage Avenue and Normandie Avenue.
The woman sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead. Her identity has not yet been released pending notification of next of kin.
Investigators believe the driver who caused the crash may have been under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol at the time of the collision. Police said the deadly crash appears to have occurred while the driver was attempting to flee the earlier accident.
The Los Angeles Police Department is investigating the circumstances surrounding the collision, including whether alcohol or drugs contributed to the crash. No additional information has been released.
