According to 2025 year-end data from the Los Angeles Police Department, the city recorded 290 traffic fatalities, a slight 6% decrease from the 302 deaths reported in 2024. Despite this modest decline, the roads remain deadlier than pre-pandemic levels. Pedestrians remain the most vulnerable group, accounting for over 50% of all fatalities (150+ deaths in 2025), while severe injuries citywide have remained high, consistently exceeding 1,500 annually since 2022.
The city’s safety data confirm that roughly 70% of fatal collisions occur on the “High-Injury Network,” which represents just 6% of the city’s streets – mostly high-speed arterials in South LA and the San Fernando Valley.
