Woman Dies, Several Others Hurt after Senior Citizen Crashes Car into Security Stand at Trader Joe’s on W. Third St.

Los Angeles, CA – A woman died, and several others were hospitalized when an elderly driver slammed into a security stand at Trader Joe’s parking lot across from The Original Farmers Market in La Brea, the Los Angeles Fire Department reported.

The incident occurred around 1:21 p.m. Thursday, September 3, 2026, on 7900 West Third Street near Fairfax Avenue.

A 91-year-old woman was driving a car in the parking lot when, for a reason still under investigation, she slammed into a security stand, injuring multiple pedestrians.

One of the victims, a woman believed to be in her 30s, was pronounced dead at the scene by responding LAFD firefighters.

Three other pedestrians – a 19-year-old man in serious condition, a 30-year-old woman and a 57-year-old woman, both with minor injuries – were taken to the hospital for treatment.

The driver of the vehicle was also hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.

The accident is being investigated by the Los Angeles Police Department.
