Authorities reported that a vehicle and a motorcycle collided in the area for unknown reasons.
Lompoc police and firefighters responded to the scene shortly after and located a severely injured motorcyclist.
Medics performed life-saving measures on the rider but the victim succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
The victim’s identity was not released pending notification of the next-of-kin.
A passenger in the involved vehicle was treated for minor injuries.
The driver was unhurt and was cooperative with the investigators.
According to police, impairment was not suspected to have factored in the incident.
The accident remained under investigation by the Lompoc Police Department.
