Lockeford, CA – Several people were taken to a hospital after being involved in a head-on collision near Lockeford early Sunday morning.
According to the Mokelumne Rural Fire District, the incident was reported at about 3:17 a.m. March 8, on Brandt Road and Highway 88.
Preliminary reports indicate that at least two vehicles were involved in the accident. The vehicles crashed head-on for unspecified reasons.
Crews with the Mokelumne Rural Fire District responded to the scene and helped extricate people trapped in the wreckage.
Several patients were transported to hospital with severe injuries. The number of those hurt and the extent of their injuries were not specified.
Investigators responded to the incident and worked to determine the cause of the collision. Additional details on the incident were not immediately released.

Some of the dangerous roads in Lockeford have been identified as Highway 120 and Highway 99. The statistics by OTS highlights the need for more enforcements to caution motorists and keep the roads safer.
