Klamath County, OR – The Oregon State Police has identified a victim killed in a two-vehicle collision on Highway 97 in Klamath County Monday morning as Leif Taylor Celusta, 34, of Crescent.
The incident was reported at around 8:46 a.m. on March 31 on State Route 97 near milepost 176.
The preliminary investigation indicated a northbound Buick LeSabre operated by Celusta lost control, crossed into the southbound lane, and struck a southbound Kenworth commercial motor vehicle and trailer driven by Robert Emil Mewes, 58, of Madras.
Celusta was declared deceased at the scene. Mewes was not injured.
The highway was impacted for approximately two hours during the on-scene investigation.
Speed and roadway conditions were considered as factors in the crash.
