Raul Sanchez and Adela Villa Among Three Killed in Lampasas County Collision on Highway 190

Lampasas County, TX – Three people were killed and two others were injured following a head-on collision on U.S. Highway 190 east of Lampasas on Saturday evening, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.

The crash was reported at approximately 8:13 p.m. near the intersection of US 190 and County Road 4302.

Preliminary findings indicate that a 2005 Lexus sedan driven by 35-year-old Raul Jaimes Sanchez of Lampasas, was traveling westbound on US 190. Witnesses told investigators that the Lexus had moved into the center turn lane.

At the same time, a 2024 Lincoln SUV operated by 41-year-old Adela Suarez Villa of Copperas Cove, was heading eastbound on the highway. For reasons still unknown, authorities say the Lexus entered the eastbound lane and into the Lincoln’s path, leading to a head-on collision.

Sanchez was pronounced dead at the scene. Villa was transported to AdventHealth’s emergency room, where she later succumbed to her injuries.

A 14-year-old male passenger in the Lincoln was also taken to the hospital and later died as a result of injuries sustained in the crash.

Two additional passengers in the Lincoln, a 12-year-old girl and a 9-year-old boy, suffered non-incapacitating injuries and were transported for treatment.

No arrests have been reported. The cause of the Lampasas County crash remains under investigation as troopers continue working to determine why the Lexus crossed into oncoming traffic.

Texas Department of Public Safety troopers responded to the scene and led the investigation into the fatal collision.

The crash significantly impacted traffic along US 190 east of Lampasas Saturday night as emergency crews worked to assist victims and clear the roadway. The incident remained under investigation as of Monday.

According to the Texas Department of Transportation, Texas recorded more than 4,200 traffic fatalities in 2023, with many deadly crashes occurring on rural highways like US 190.
