Lake Havasu City, AZ – Authorities are investigating a deadly pedestrian collision that claimed the life of a 55-year-old woman from Canada in Lake Havasu City on Sunday night.
According to Lake Havasu City Police Department, the accident transpired on Lake Havasu Avenue, just north of College Drive on Sunday, February 15.
Authorities reported that a vehicle was traveling southbound on Lake Havasu Avenue when, for unknown reasons, it struck two pedestrians. The driver continued on and slammed into a parked car.
According to the report, one of the pedestrians, identified as Julie Becker, 55, from Canada, died in the accident. The second pedestrian, also from Canada, was taken to a hospital for treatment and was expected to recover.
Drunk driving was believed to have played a role in the crash and the driver was arrested. Police said the driver, Acadia Frye, 19, of Lake Havasu City, is expected to face multiple charges including underage drinking, DUI, and aggrevated assault.
The Mohave County Sheriff’s Office is currently looking into the accident.
