The woman was walking across the driveway of a shopping center when a car pulling out of the driveway struck her.
La Mesa, CA – An 80-year-old woman died after she was struck by a vehicle Wednesday afternoon while crossing a driveway along Fletcher Parkway in La Mesa.
According to La Mesa police, the incident was reported around 12:10 p.m. on May 13 just in front of a Costco store in the 8100 block of Fletcher Parkway near Baltimore Drive.
The woman was walking across the driveway of a shopping center when a car pulling out of the driveway struck her.
Firefighters and paramedics responded to the scene and found the victim lying unconscious. The woman was taken to the hospital, where she was pronounced dead. Her name was not immediately released pending family notification.
The driver involved stopped and remained at the scene. Drugs and alcohol did not appear to be contributing factors.
An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
