Chico, CA. – A scooter rider was seriously injured in a hit-and-run collision that happened Tuesday evening in Chico.
Police arrested Ky Sappasith following the Chico Scooter Accident that happened around 6:49 p.m. on East 20th Street near Highway 99.
According to the Chico Police Department, officers with the department responded to the scene after they were notified about a hit-and-run crash involving a scooter.
The officers found a person with serious injuries after they were hit by a car while riding a scooter.
The victim was taken to the hospital for treatment. The injuries are not considered life-threatening.
The officers interviewed witnesses at the scene and were able to establish that a white sedan was involved in the collision. One witness provided the officers with the car's registration number.
The police department used automated license plate technology to locate the vehicle in the area of Skyway and Highway 99.
The California Highway Patrol was contacted by Chico police and advised to be on-the-lookout for the car.
CHP later located the suspected car traveling on Highway 99.
The suspect was successfully stopped and arrested. He was booked into the Butte County Jail on suspicion of felony hit-and-run.
