Kennewick, WA – A motorcyclist was severely injured in a collision with a vehicle in Kennewick on Saturday morning, according to the Kennewick Police Department.
At around 7:38 p.m. January 3, authorities responded to reports of a collision in the 7400 block of W. Clearwater Avenue.
According to Kennewick police, a 39-year-old Kennewick resident was riding a motorcycle westbound on W. Clearwater Avenue when they were involved in a collision with an SUV. The events leading up to the accident were not immediately established.
Police and firefighters responded to the scene of the accident and the motorcycle rider was sent to a hospital with serious injuries.
According to the investigators, the driver of the SUV left the scene but returned shortly after and cooperated with the investigators. The identities of the involved drivers were not immediately released.
Authorities believe the motorcyclist's speed may have played a role in the accident. The collision remained under investigation.
