Umatilla County, OR – One person was killed and two others were injured after two vehicles collided on Highway 395A in Umatilla County on Sunday morning, according to the Oregon State Police.
The crash occurred around 9:24 a.m. on November 2, 2025, on Highway 395A near milepost 3.
Investigators said a southbound Volkswagen Passat driven by Tyler Garrett, 24, of Hermiston, crossed into the northbound lane for unknown reasons and struck a northbound Nissan 370 driven by Hadasa Sanchez, 25, of Umatilla, head-on.
A passenger in the Nissan, Jose Vicente Sanchez, a 24-year-old Umatilla resident, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Garrett sustained critical injuries while Sanchez suffered serious injuries. Both patients were transported to area hospitals.
Highway 395A was closed for approximately five hours as emergency crews cleared the scene. The Hermiston Police Department, Umatilla County Sheriff's Office, Umatilla County Fire District 1, and ODOT assisted at the site.
The incident remains under investigation by the Oregon State Police.
