A female adult passenger and two minors in the back of Plascencia's vehicle were taken to the hospital for treatment

Salinas, CA. – Authorities have identified two people who died in a multi-vehicle collision in Salinas on Sunday evening.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the accident happened on Highway 101 near Chualar River Road at around 6:49 p.m.
41-year-old Efrain Plascencia of Salinas was driving a white Kia SUV northbound in the southbound lanes of Highway 101 when he collided head-on with a black Honda sedan driven by a 46-year-old Joel Nunez-Vargas of Yuma, Arizona.
A white Toyota sedan driven by a 29-year-old Salinas resident was also involved in the accident.
A female adult passenger and two minors in the back of Plascencia's vehicle were taken to the hospital for treatment.
Both Plascencia and Joel Nunez-Vargas were killed in the accident.
More details about the accident were not released.
An investigation into the accident is ongoing.
