Holbrook, AZ.- The five people who were killed in a multi-vehicle collision near Holbrook on Friday afternoon have been identified by the Arizona Department of Public Safety.
The incident took place at around 2:54 p.m. March 14, on Interstate 40 near milepost 294.
The DPS reported that a westbound Cadillac Escalade was struck from behind by a semi-truck and this caused a chain-reaction involving a second semi-truck and a Jeep Wrangler.
The five people who died in the crash were identified as Sarah Broyel-Case, 50, of Fort Collins, Colorado, Adam Mychajliw, 17, of Scottsdale, Jeet Vikram, 34, of Ozone Park, New York, Sophia Case, 17, of Fort Collins, Colorado, and Samuel Case, 51, of Fort Collins, Colorado.
Two other parties were hurt in the incident.
Weather is believed to have played a role in the accident.
The westbound lanes of I-40 were shut down as authorities worked to clear the scene.
The accident remained under investigation.
