Jacob Werner Killed in La Pine Motorcycle Crash on Burgess and Huntington Roads

La Pine, OR.- Jacob Werner, 44, of La Pine, was killed in at an intersection in La Pine on Saturday afternoon, according to the Deschutes County Sheriff's Office.

The accident took place on Burgess and Huntington roads just before 12:31 p.m. August 9.

According to the report, Werner was riding a blue 2005 Yamaha motorcycle at a high rate of speed eastbound on Burgess Road when he failed to stop for a red light at the intersection.

The motorcycle collided with a Maroon 2024 Grand Jeep Cherokee that was making a left turn onto Huntington Road.

First responders performed CPR on Werner but he succumbed to his injuries at the scene.

A passenger on his motorcycle, a 44-year-old La Pine woman, was transported to St. Charles Medical Center with serious injuries.

The two occupants of the Jeep were not injured.

Deputies reported that speed is believed be a factor in the accident, which remained under investigation.
