Josephine County, OR – One person was killed and another was injured after a single-vehicle crash on Highway 238 early Monday morning, according to the Oregon State Police.
The deadly crash occurred at about 12:20 a.m. on Monday, November 3, 2025, on Highway 238, near milepost 8.
Authorities said a westbound Subaru Impreza, driven by 21-year-old Alexander Ray Yager of Grants Pass, failed to negotiate a curve, veered off the roadway, struck a power pole, and rolled several times before bursting into flames.
Yager was able to escape the burning vehicle and was transported to a nearby hospital with minor injuries. His passenger, 36-year-old Jacob Dean Mix of Grants Pass, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The highway was closed for approximately eight hours while authorities conducted an on-scene investigation. Oregon State Police reported that impairment and speed were considered primary factors in the crash.
OSP was assisted at the scene by the Oregon Department of Transportation.
The Josephine County crash remains under investigation.
