The deadly accident occurred around 2:22 p.m. on August 25 on northbound Interstate 5 off-ramp to Laval Road west.
Bakersfield, CA – The authorities have released the identity of the truck driver who died in a rollover accident on Laval Road in Bakersfield on Monday afternoon.
The Kern County coroner identified the deceased driver as Hongyi Ji, 62, of Orlando, Florida.
According to CHP, Hongyi Ji was driving a semi tractor-trailer northbound when, for some reason, the semi veered left across the Laval Road on-ramp to northbound I-5 and rolled.
Ji was pronounced dead at the scene.

Bakersfield, CA – A person was killed Monday afternoon in a rollover accident in Bakersfield, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP).
CHP said a semi-tractor-combination was traveling northbound on the interstate, on the off-ramp to Laval Road west. For unknown reasons, it traveled to the left across the Laval Road on-ramp to northbound I-5 and rolled over.
The driver was killed in the accident. His name has not been released.
The accident closed Laval Road west off-ramp from northbound I-5, along with the northbound I-5 on-ramp from Wheeler Ridge.
The CHP is investigating the accident.
