Hercules, CA – 23-year-old Sean Hanson of Yuba City died in a motorcycle accident that happened Saturday night on Interstate 80 in Hercules.
According to authorities, the accident was reported around 11:30 p.m. on August 8, 2026, on the westbound I-80 just west of Sycamore Avenue.
The California Highway Patrol reported that Hanson was riding a motorcycle when he collided with a Honda CR-V. Hanson was ejected from his bike onto freeway lanes, where he was reportedly hit by nine other vehicles.
All drivers involved stopped after the collision.
Firefighters pronounced Hanson dead at the scene.
Two occupants in some of the cars sustained minor injuries.
Investigators closed the westbound lanes of I-80 for about 90 minutes while they worked the scene.
