Cash Justin Krawetz, 16, of Montara, died in the crash that happened at about 12:15 p.m. February 9, near Terrace Avenue.
According to the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office, Krawetz was riding an electric bike along the shoulder when he crashed into a box truck in the area. The report indicates that the e-bike was intended for off-road riding and was not street-legal.
The deputies immediately responded to the scene and performed life-saving measures on Krawetz, who was in critical condition.
Krawetz was then rushed to a hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
The driver of the box truck remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigators. Deputies reported that impairment was not believed to have played a role in the incident.
