Goleta, CA – Seven people were hospitalized after two successive collisions that happened Tuesday afternoon on Highway 101 in Goleta, the California Highway Patrol reported.
The first incident happened around 5:20 p.m. on April 7 in the southbound lanes of Highway 101 near Fairview Avenue. The collision involved five vehicles.
About 15 minutes later, at least two vehicles collided in the same area in the northbound lanes of the highway.
The Santa Barbara County Fire Department responded to the scene and transported seven patients to hospitals for treatment of minor to moderate injuries.
Several traffic lanes remained blocked following the crash, causing traffic backup.
Authorities reported that a third collision involving several vehicles occurred on northbound Highway 101 between Patterson Avenue and Turnpike Road, sending two people to the hospital.
