Gaviota Coast, CA – One person was hospitalized Friday afternoon after a vehicle crashed off northbound Highway 101 and into trees along the Gaviota Coast, according to authorities.

Officials said the vehicle left the roadway, traveled about 50 feet up an embankment, and struck several trees before coming to rest.
Santa Barbara County Fire Department crews responded to the scene and provided medical assistance. The injured individual was transported by American Medical Response ambulance to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital with moderate injuries.
No other vehicles were involved in the crash, and authorities said no lane closures were required during the response.
The injured person's identity and additional details were not immediately available. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
