Preliminary reports indicate that a woman was driving a car westbound on Auto Mall Parkway in the right-turn lane onto northbound I-880 when she collided with Jacks

Fremont, CA – The Alameda County Coroner’s Bureau has identified the man who was killed in a crash with a vehicle while riding an electric bicycle in Fremont on Saturday afternoon.
Sostan Samuel Jacks II, 47, of Fremont, died following the accident that took place at around 4:30 p.m. June 27, on the Interstate 880 on-ramp at Auto Mall Parkway and Grimmer Boulevard.
Preliminary reports indicate that a woman was driving a car westbound on Auto Mall Parkway in the right-turn lane onto northbound I-880 when she collided with Jacks. Authorities reported that Jacks was riding an e-bike eastbound in the westbound bike lane when the collision happened.
Fremont police and emergency crews arrived at the scene shortly after and found Jacks with head trauma. He was rushed to a hospital, where he was later declared deceased.
The driver of the car was not injured in the crash and stayed at the scene after the accident. According to the report, the woman cooperated with the investigators and was not arrested.
Further details on the collision were not immediately released. The cause of the collision is under investigation by the Fremont Police Department.
