Santa Barbara, CA. – Four people were hospitalized, and a driver was arrested early Sunday morning after a suspected DUI crash near the Santa Barbara Bowl, authorities reported.
The collision occurred around 12:35 a.m. near the intersection of North Milpas and Anapamu streets, according to the Santa Barbara Police Department.
Investigators said an 18-year-old man was driving a white Audi sedan eastbound on Anapamu Street when he failed to make a 90-degree turn onto Milpas Street and crashed into a tree.
The driver, identified as Sebastian Escamilla Lopez, and three passengers — including a juvenile — sustained minor to moderate injuries.
All four victims were transported to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital for treatment.
Police said Lopez was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol and felony child endangerment due to the presence of the minor passenger.
He will be booked into the Santa Barbara County Jail upon his release from the hospital.
Details about the injured passengers' conditions were not immediately available.
The crash remains under investigation.
