Investigators said the driver of a Toyota Scion struck a Chevy Trailblazer for an unknown reason.
The force of the impact ejected the Chevy driver from the car onto traffic lanes, where they were shortly after run over by another vehicle.
Two other cars were also involved in the accident.
Emergency personnel responded and pronounced the Chevy driver dead at the scene.
Police officers arrested the Toyota driver on suspicion of driving under the influence. Details about the identity of the suspect were not available.
An investigation into the collision is ongoing.
