Amtrak Train Runs Over Hose, Injuring Pico Rivera Firefighter

, CA. – A firefighter putting out a fire in Pico Rivera was injured after being hit by a hose when an Amtrak train ran over it Sunday night, authorities reported.

The incident occurred around 10:15 p.m. near Rivera Road and Cord Avenue.

Authorities said Los Angeles County firefighters responded to the area after a fire broke out in a yard.

As the firefighters were helping put out the fire, Amtrak train 794 went across a hose, causing it to strike one of the fire crews.

The victim was taken to the hospital with moderate injuries.

All 185 passengers onboard the train traveling from to were not injured.

The fire was put out at 10:54 p.m.

Police officers and Amtrak are investigating the accident.
