Everett, WA – Two people were killed in a multi-vehicle collision on Friday afternoon in Everett, according to the Everett Fire Department.
Authorities responded at about 12 p.m. January 2, to the accident on 19th Avenue Southeast and 100th Street Southeast.
According to the report, a car was traveling southbound on 19th Avenue Southeast when it swerved into the northbound side and collided head-on with an oncoming vehicle. This caused a chain-reaction involving two other vehicles.
The car that crossed into oncoming traffic left the roadway after the crash, slammed into a pole, and overturned. Three people were trapped in the car.
The Everett Police Department and fire crews arrived a few minutes after receiving a report of the incident.
Two people in the rollover vehicle were pronounced deceased at the scene. The two were identified as a man and woman in their late 80s. Medics evaluated two other parties at the scene.
Authorities closed roads in the area as they investigated and performed cleanup at the scene. The cause of the crash remained under investigation.
