Eugene, OR – A 30-year-old bicycle rider died after being hit by a vehicle at an intersection in Eugene on Sunday afternoon, according to a report by the Eugene Police Department.
At around 12:39 p.m. January 25, authorities responded to reports of a collision in the area of E. 22nd Avenue and Patterson Street.
According to the investigators, 30-year-old Erick Munene Njue, a student at the University of Oregon, was riding a bike when he was involved in an accident with a vehicle. Authorities did not confirm how and why the bicycle accident occurred.
The Eugene Police Department officers responded to the scene to investigate the incident. Njue was declared deceased at the scene by the responding medical crews.
There were no details on the identity or condition of the involved driver.
