Elijah Copeland Killed in Linn County Crash on Highway 228

Linn County, OR.- A pedestrian was hit and killed by a vehicle in Linn County last week on Thursday, according to the Oregon State Police.

The incident took place on Highway 228 near milepost 2 at around 8:48 p.m. July 31.

The OSP reported that Justin Cane Clark, 39, of Junction City, was driving a white Dodge Ram pulling a utility trailer west on the highway when he struck a pedestrian in the roadway.

The victim had just exited a red Toyota Tacoma and entered the westbound lanes of the highway.

The victim, identified as Elijah A. Copeland, 46, of Eugene, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Clark and his passenger, Mikala Frances Craigmiles, 38, of Junction City, were not injured.

The highway was shut down for over two hours as authorities worked at the scene.

The OSP is investigating the accident.
