According to Riverside County Sheriff's Department, a car was traveling south on Via De La Valle when it lost control, hit a parked vehicle, and then struck Martinez

Lake Elsinore, CA – The man who was killed in a car accident in Lake Elsinore on Thursday morning has been identified as Edgar Orozco Martinez, 24, of Menifee, according to the authorities.

The wreck happened on Via De La Valle and Plaza Valenza at about 11 a.m. September 4.

According to Riverside County Sheriff's Department, a car was traveling south on Via De La Valle when it lost control, hit a parked vehicle, and then struck a pedestrian.

Deputies responded to the scene and performed life-saving measures on the victim until medics arrived.

Despite the efforts by the medics to revive the pedestrian, he succumbed to his injuries at the scene.

The victim was later identified as Martinez.

The driver who struck Martinez remained at the scene after the crash.

Roads were temporarily closed in the area as authorities investigated the incident.

The cause of the crash remained under investigation.
