The wreck transpired around 8:53 a.m. when a driver drifted into opposing traffic on Highway 99W near Riverside Avenue.

Red Bluff, CA. – One person died, and another was hurt in a big rig accident that happened Thursday morning in Red Bluff, the California Highway Patrol reported.
The wreck transpired around 8:53 a.m. when a driver drifted into opposing traffic on Highway 99W near Riverside Avenue.
The crash was notified to the Redding Communications Center, and an emergency team was dispatched to the scene.
A preliminary investigation revealed that the driver of a white Lexus ES300 was traveling north on the highway when, for an unknown reason, drifted into the southbound lane, directly into the path of an oncoming semi-truck.
The front-left side of the Lexus collided with the left-rear wheels and axles of the big rig's trailer.
The Lexus driver died from injuries suffered in the crash.
The driver of the big rig suffered minor injuries that did not require hospitalization.
CHP Red Bluff Area is investigating the collision.
