Davis Motorcycle Crash
Davis, CA – Woman, 40, Killed in Motorcycle Accident on Interstate 80

Davis, CA – A woman was killed after a motorcycle collided with a pickup truck on Interstate 80 in Davis Thursday afternoon, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The deadly crash happened at about 2:40 p.m. on Thursday, May 7, on the eastbound lanes of Interstate 80 near the Richards Boulevard.

Preliminary investigation findings indicate that a motorcycle, carrying a male driver and a female passenger, was traveling behind a pickup truck. When traffic began to slow, the motorcycle driver rear-ended the pickup truck, causing the woman to be ejected from the motorcycle. She landed in a separate travel lane directly in front of an oncoming big rig.

The 40-year-old Sacramento woman, whose name has not been released, was struck by the big rig and was pronounced dead at the scene. The rider was not hurt. All involved drivers remained at the scene and cooperated with authorities; no arrests were reported following the Davis crash.

The California Highway Patrol stated that alcohol or drugs do not appear to be factors in the accident. The crash was initiated when the motorcycle failed to stop in time for slowing traffic.

California Highway Patrol officers and emergency responders arrived at the scene to provide aid and conduct the investigation. No other injuries were reported among the occupants of the pickup truck or the big rig.

The impact of the crash blocked two eastbound lanes of Interstate 80, causing significant traffic delays for several hours before the lanes were eventually reopened.

The incident remains under investigation by the California Highway Patrol.
