Work-related accidents continue to be a major concern in California, particularly in industries that depend on transportation, heavy machinery, and construction equipment. According to records from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), California reported 439 fatalities due to job-related incidents in 2023. Transportation accidents accounted for 108 of the fatalities, nearly 27% of all incidents in that year and is considered the leading cause of workplace fatalities. Though the total number of fatal job-site accidents declined from the previous year, incidents in the transport industry remained on a high. This highlights the need for more improvement to be made to boost safety in the work environment. Workers also need more sensitization to ensure they are more enlightened on the dangers that come with their line of work and avoid falling victim to job-related injuries and deaths.
If you have lost a loved one in a workplace accident, it is crucial to understand how to navigate workers’ compensation claims or potential third-party liability. Consult with a qualified workplace injury attorney to ensure the incident is properly investigated, evidence is preserved, and that you pursue fair compensation for medical expenses, lost wages, and other related damages.
