Airway Heights, WA.- A police officer was injured in a traffic collision in Airway Heights on Monday night, according to the Airway Heights Police Department.
The incident happened on 21st Street and Hayford Road at around 8:30 p.m. November 3.
Corporal Mike Ziegler was reportedly sitting in a patrol car with emergency lights helping with traffic control when another driver failed to yield and slammed into the patrol car.
Ziegler had to be extricated from the patrol car and was transported to a hospital, where he was treated and released.
Authorities said drugs and alcohol were not suspected to have played a role in the incident.
No additional details on the incident were immediately released.
The accident is under investigation by the Washington State Patrol.
