Clovis, CA – A toddler was hospitalized after being struck by a vehicle at a business parking lot in Clovis on Saturday afternoon, the Clovis Police Department reported.
At about 2:20 p.m. January 3, authorities responded to reports of a collision at the Trader Joe's near Willow and Nees avenues.
Investigators said a toddler was ran over by a vehicle at the parking lot. The child's mother was also struck.
Police responded shortly after and found the child alert and conscious. The child was rushed to a hospital with moderate injuries while the mother was not hurt in the accident.
The driver of the involved vehicle remained at the scene after the collision. Police reported that drugs or alcohol were believed to have played a role in the accident and the driver was arrested on suspicion of felony DUI.
A section of the parking lot was blocked as authorities investigated the incident.
There were no additional details on the crash. The accident is under investigation by the Clovis Police Department.
