Phoenix, AZ– A driver was arrested after fleeing the scene of a deadly crash in west Phoenix on Sunday night, according to the Arizona Department of Public Safety.
A six-year-old child was killed in the collision that occurred shortly before 8 p.m. October 5, on Interstate 10 near 67th Avenue.
According to the report, a pickup truck and a passenger vehicle were involved in the accident.
The passenger vehicle drifted left across the interstate and slammed into the concrete median wall.
A 6-year-old riding in the passenger vehicle was pronounced deceased at a hospital.
Another child in the same vehicle, a 4-year-old, was taken to the hospital and was said to be in stable condition.
The driver of the truck fled the scene after the accident but was later located and arrested at a nearby gas station.
An investigation into the collision is ongoing.
