Tucson, AZ– A child died after being struck by a vehicle in Tucson on Tuesday, according to a report by the Tucson Police Department.

The crash occurred in the area of Mission Road and 36th Street on Tuesday, September 9.

A 7-year-old girl was attempting to cross six lanes of traffic outside of the crosswalk with other minors when she was hit by a northbound Chevrolet Impala.

The girl was transported to Banner University Medical Center with critical injuries and was pronounced deceased on September 11.

The driver of the Chevrolet, a 56-year-old, remained at the scene after the accident.

Authorities are conducting an investigation to find out what caused the crash.
