Palmdale, CA. – 31-year-old Chelsea Jewkes, from Lancaster, was killed in a car accident on Friday night in Palmdale.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the accident happened around 5:10 p.m. near Avenue N and 22nd Street West.
A 25-year-old man was driving a 2008 Mercedes westbound on Avenue N and was attempting to pass another vehicle by using the north shoulder when he lost control and collided with a 2021 Lexus IS before striking the front of a 2022 Honda HR-V.
Debris from the crash also struck a 2019 Honda Accord.
Jewkes was killed in the accident, according to the Los Angeles County Office of Medical Examiner.
Three other victims were taken to Antelope Valley Medical Center with injuries ranging from moderate to severe.
The driver of the Mercedes, 25-year-old K. Littiz, and his passenger, 22-year-old K. Wright, fled the scene on foot and were later located and taken into custody.
More details about the accident were not released.
An investigation into the accident is ongoing.
