Del Mar, CA. – Two people were hurt when a car jumped a curb and barreled into a crowd in a park in Del Mar, authorities reported.
The incident took place around 2:15 p.m. at Powerhouse Park along Coast Boulevard.
According to police, an elderly man allegedly hit the gas pedal instead of the brake pedal, and the car drove over a curb into a sign, through bushes, and landed in the park.
A crowd of people was enjoying their activities in the park at that time.
Two people were hit and injured by the vehicle. The patients were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Lifeguards, sheriff deputies, and firefighters were among emergency personnel who responded to the crash scene.
