Between 2021 and 2023, Buena Park's total fatal and injury collision victims decreased significantly according to California Office of Traffic Safety (OTS) data. In 2021, the city had 294 victims of fatal and injury collisions. In 2022, that count rose to 321 victims, showing a slight uptick. By 2023, however, total serious crash victims dropped to 227, indicating a notable year-over-year reduction in serious collisions. Alcohol-involved collision victims dropped from 32 in 2021 and 34 in 2022 to 19 in 2023, and motorcycle-related serious injuries fell from 16 to 13 over the same period. Pedestrian victims also declined from 21 in 2021 and 25 in 2022 to 11 in 2023. Speed-related and nighttime serious collisions decreased as well, contributing to the overall decline in reported serious crashes.
