Buckeye, AZ – One Killed in Semi-Truck Crash with Car on Interstate 10 Near Palo Verde Road

Buckeye, AZ – One person was killed in a two-vehicle crash involving a semi-truck on Interstate 10 in Buckeye late Friday morning, according to the Arizona Department of Public Safety.

The fatal collision occurred just after 11 a.m. in the eastbound lanes of Interstate 10 near Palo Verde Road. Authorities said the incident prompted a major emergency response and extended freeway closures.

Investigators reported that a car driver crossed all lanes of eastbound traffic for reasons that have not yet been determined and collided with a semi-truck. The force of the impact caused the commercial truck to overturn onto its side.

Officials confirmed that one person inside the car died at the scene. No additional injuries were immediately reported in connection with the Buckeye crash.

The cause of the collision remains under investigation as authorities work to determine what led the car to veer across multiple lanes before striking the semi-truck.

Aerial footage from a news helicopter showed the semi-truck lying on its side, with its rear axle separated and resting on the roadway approximately 100 feet away. The passenger vehicle sustained severe damage along the driver’s side and came to rest a considerable distance from the overturned truck.

The crash led to the closure of the eastbound lanes of Interstate 10 for several hours while crews cleared debris and conducted an on-scene investigation. Traffic was backed up in the area before lanes reopened shortly after 3:30 p.m.

The Buckeye crash remains under active investigation by the Arizona Department of Public Safety.
