Lake County, CA – The California Highway Patrol has identified a woman who was injured in a head-on collision early Saturday morning on Highway 29 in Lake County as Brenda Lee Sandage, 64.

The grisly traffic collision occurred at around 3:55 a.m. on April 26 on State Route 29 north of Hofacker Lane near Lower Lake.

Reports revealed that Sandage was driving north on the highway when she veered into the southbound lane and directly into the path of the fuel tanker, causing a head-on collision.

Sandage was airlifted to Kaiser Vacaville Medical Center with major injuries. The tanker truck driver was not hurt, authorities said.

It was unclear whether alcohol and drugs played a role in the mishap.

The cause of the accident remains under investigation.
