Bakersfield, CA – 1 Killed, 1 Injured in 2-Vehicle Collision on Panama Road near Tejon Highway

Bakersfield, CA – A man died, and another person was hospitalized after a traffic collision that happened Thursday morning in Bakersfield.

According to California Highway Patrol logs, the accident occurred around 4:48 a.m. on September 2, 2026, on Panama Road, just west of Tejon Highway.

Authorities reported that the crash involved a 2001 Honda and a 2007 Toyota.

A 64-year-old man was driving the Toyota southbound on Tejon Highway when a 68-year-old man driving the Honda eastbound on Panama Road continued through the intersection and collided with the Toyota.

The Honda driver died from his injuries at the scene.

The driver of the Toyota was taken to Kern Medical with minor injuries.

Authorities are investigating the cause of the accident.
