Atwater, CA – A young bicyclist was killed following a collision involving a truck on Bridgewater Street in Atwater Thursday evening, according to the Atwater Police Department.
The fatal crash occurred in the 2200 block of Bridgewater Street at approximately 7:13 p.m. on April 30, 2026.
Authorities reported that a truck collided with a bicyclist under circumstances that were not immediately determined.
The child sustained severe injuries in the crash. Neighbors and first responders attempted life-saving measures at the scene before he was transported to a hospital, where he later died. The driver remained at the scene, and no arrests have been reported.
Atwater Police Department said the victim was a 10-year-old boy who was a student at Juniper Elementary School, located several blocks from the scene.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
Officers responded to the scene and began an investigation into the incident.
The collision caused disruptions along Bridgewater Street as authorities worked at the scene.
