Santa Monica, CA. – At least four people were injured when a hit-and-run driver plowed into a group of pedestrians Friday night in Santa Monica.

According to the Santa Monica Police Department, the accident was reported around 9:15 p.m. in the 1300 block of Wilshire Boulevard.

Police said a driver was traveling westbound in the eastbound lanes and onto the sidewalk, where they hit a group of at least four pedestrians.

The driver fled the scene on foot after the collision.

Two of the victims sustained critical injuries. The other two suffered unspecified injuries.

Authorities said based on a preliminary investigation, nothing suggests the incident was an intentional act, and they are investigating it as a felony hit-and-run. However, the possibility of the crash being an intentional act has not been ruled out.

Investigators closed Wilshire Boulevard between 14th Street and Euclid Avenue following the collision.
