Escondido, CA. – At least one person was hurt in a DUI accident that took place Sunday morning in Escondido, the California Highway Patrol reported.
The crash took place around 11:04 a.m. on State Route 78 near Centre City Parkway.
A red SUV collided with a black sedan under unclear circumstances. The SUV rolled over and landed back on its wheels on the right shoulder embankment.
One person was trapped inside one of the vehicles.
Firefighters responded to the scene and extricated the victim.
The report said one person suffered minor injuries in the accident.
Authorities said DUI was a contributing factor but did not give more details.
Escondido police closed the onramps from Centre City Parkway to both eastbound and westbound SR-78 following the crash.
About 30 feet of chain-link fence was cut to allow the extrication process.
