According to the authorities, the collision transpired at around 8:21 p.m. June 27, in the 15700 block of Wichita Road near Zuni Road.
Preliminary reports indicate that a vehicle with one occupant and another with several people inside were involved in the collision, whose cause was not immediately established. The impact of the crash caused one of the vehicles to overturn and one person was trapped inside.
The Apple Valley Fire Protection District responded to the scene and extricated the party trapped in the overturned vehicle and at least two others from the second vehicle.
One of the drivers involved in the crash was declared dead at the scene. The identity of the deceased motorist was not immediately released.
Several ambulances were requested to transport patients to hospitals. The number of those hurt and the extent of their injuries were not specified.
