Jamestown, CA. – A Tuolumne County Sheriff’s Deputy was among two people who were injured in a collision on Saturday evening near Jamestown, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The wreck happened on Highway 108 near Rawhide Road at around 7:30 p.m. January 18.

According to the CHP, Jon Olson, 72, of Jamestown, was driving a 2003 GMC Yukon out of the Rawhide Saloon parking lot onto Highway 108 when he was hit by a westbound 2018 Ford Explorer patrol vehicle that was driven by Deputy Andrew Munoz, 30.

The impact caused the GMC to overturn.

Both drivers were airlifted to Modesto hospitals for treatment of minor injuries.

Olson was arrested on suspicion of DUI following the accident.

Both directions of Highway 108 were shut down for nearly two hours as authorities investigated the incident.

The cause of the collision is under investigation.
